Through the eyes, the words and the life of Gianni Giotta, founder of Caffé Trieste, Trieste and Istria of the post-war period and the birth of the new America are revived in him. Caffè Trieste soon became a social and cultural center in North Beach, the historically Italian neighborhood in San Francisco. A place where the main authors of the beat generation met in the fifties and sixties, and where Francis Ford Coppola wrote part of his The Godfather's screenplay.
